Home tommarow Night!!!!
Hello Humans. Em and I will be home tommarow night. We will do two flights, one from Bozeman to Seatle in the early morning, and one from Seatle to Portland in the late evening. For you religious folk out their, please pray that Jody's ears survive this and that the pressure equalizes in my head quickly. It can take days for me sometimes.
On to other items...yesterday, Jody got his animal fix. Em, her parents, and myself, piled in the car at about 8:30 A.M. and drove to Wyoming, to Yellowstone National Park. We saw many wonderful sights, starting with the area near firehole creek, where we stopped to picnic. It was a large, grassy area, with tables, (and a creek), and at this location we saw a couple of Canis latrans (A.K.A. Coyote) up close. They were very cute. We saw this bison off in the distance that was having a blast rolling around wildly in this dust pit (like a cat rolling on your carpet at home), and Em and I walked up about 40-50 feet from this other bison that was very into eating, to see if we could get close enough for a good smell. ;-) THat was as close as we were going to get. We also saw a fox when we were driving away, which was very cool. Later that day we looked at several points along the canyon area of the Yellowstone river. This is a VERY large expanse, not as large as the Grand Canyon, but when you are looking at areas up to 1,200 feet deep, and a 3-4,00 feet across, it looks pretty impressive.

This was most amazing because of the unique sounds it made. Too bad the sounds were not captured. The smell was a fairly intense sulpher, but the sound kept you there. I cannot describe it, but I recomend going there. :-) We also stoped to watch a few other animals from a reasonable distance: moose, elk, bear, etc.
The end of our day was at the sight of Old Fithful. We watched that geyser, and then saw two other geysers go off in the geyser basin nearby. Old Faithful is NOT THE LARGEST geyser, but it is the one the erupts most during the day. There were many cool springs and boiling mudpots there, and there are some cool paths to walk on. When we left to drive back to Em's parent's house, we ended up getting stuck in a heard of bison. The heard was about 100-150, babies to adults, and this was up close and personal. We rolled down the windows and listed to the gool gutteral grunts the animals were making and had a ball. The babies were cute, the adults smelled a little musty, and they are BIG. The heard eventually wondered on, and we got home at about 12:15 A.M. This is probably our biggest activity day for the week. We'll see if we can download a couple of pics later. TTFN
